Congratulations, Deadwood!

True West Magazine has named Deadwood, South Dakota the second of ten “True Western Towns” for 2008. This is quite the jump from it’s placement as 7th in 2007.

The nominations and awards are based on very detailed criteria, but especially on how well the town has maintained it’s history and how well historical buildings have been preserved. Additionally, nominees and winners have to pay special attention to promoting the town’s history to visitors and tourists.
